What changed

What changed in Shukai — for you in the panel and for whoever installs the widget. Newest first.

1. Limits per visitor, and a switched-off widget stops the chat

   Each visitor now has their own limit: 20 messages a minute and 300 a day on one site, so one client can no longer use up the whole allowance and leave everyone else waiting. The limit for a whole account rose to match: 60 messages a minute on Starter, 180 on Growth, 360 on Pro and 900 on Business.

   Switching a widget off in the panel now takes it off your site and stops the chat itself. Before, the button could still appear with its default look.

   Before you choose a plan, the assistant answers in the preview up to 50 credits a day and 300 a month.

   Speech is now earned by answers: every answer adds to the day’s budget for reading answers aloud and recognising speech, so a site that talks to its visitors never reaches it, while a script that only asks for speech stops at a small daily base.

2. An offer to open a page shows the page

   When the assistant asks whether to take a visitor to a page, the page itself now appears with the question, above the yes and no buttons. Pressing it is the same yes. Before, the answer described the page and the visitor had to agree without seeing which one it was.

3. Claude Haiku 5.5 is the new default, Claude Sonnet 5.5 the strong one

   A new assistant now answers with Claude Haiku 5.5, at 1 credit a text answer: on our comparison it answered as well as Gemini 3 Flash and better than Claude Haiku 4.5, and called the right tool reliably, at a fraction of the cost. Claude Sonnet 5.5, at 3 credits, is there for sites that want the strongest model. Gemini 3 Flash, Claude Haiku 4.5 and GPT-5 mini are no longer offered for new choices; an assistant already set to one of them keeps working and is charged as before.

4. Switches on your page really switch, and the assistant remembers what it did

   When the assistant turned a switch or a checkbox on for a visitor, some components — toggle switches that listen for a click, React checkboxes — did not notice: the box looked ticked to the assistant and stayed off on screen. It now clicks the control the way a person does. It also remembers, from one message to the next, what it actually did on the page, so asked “did you really press it?” it answers from that record instead of doubting itself and pressing again.

5. A title or description you set now steers the search

   When you write your own title or description for a source, the assistant now uses it to find that page, not only to show it as a link. Re-process the source after changing them. A short description that says what the page is about, in the words your visitors use, is often what brings the right page up first.

6. Top-up packs buy more credits

   A top-up now costs the same per credit as the Starter plan: $5 buys 1,000 credits, $12 buys 2,400 and $35 buys 7,000. They were 800, 2,200 and 7,000. Bought credits stay on the account until they are needed and are spent after the monthly allowance.

7. Choose where the assistant appears

   On a widget’s Install tab you can now show the assistant on every page, on every page except the ones you list, or only on them — /login, /orders/{id}/receipt, /account/* for a whole section. A second switch shows it only to signed-in users: it appears once your site calls Shukai.setUser(token) and goes away on logout, so login and sign-up screens stay clean. For anything else, Shukai.hide() and Shukai.show() take it off the page and bring it back. These decide where it is shown, not who may talk to it.

8. An «AI assistant» label for the widget

   You can now have the widget say plainly that visitors are talking to an AI: a small «AI assistant» label sits above the message field, in the widget’s own language. Switch it on for each widget on its Content tab — it is off by default.

   Whether you use the label or tell visitors another way is up to you; the Terms explain why it matters.

9. The number of sites follows your plan

   You can have as many sites as your plan includes — 1 on Starter, 3 on Growth, 10 on Pro, 25 on Business — and one before you pick a plan. When you have them all, «Add site» is greyed out and a note names the plan with more. Moving to a smaller plan never deletes a site: the ones you have keep working, you just cannot add another.

10. Search everything in the panel

    The search field at the top of the panel finds what you have: type a few letters and it lists matching pages and files, assistants, widgets, tools and events, conversations and contact requests, each marked with what it is. Pick one to open it. On an account screen it searches all your sites, and the sites themselves. ⌘K (or Ctrl K) puts the cursor in the field from anywhere.

11. The Kozak thinks out loud

    While the assistant is thinking, the Kozak’s forelock curls into a question mark, so a visitor can see that an answer is on its way.

12. Custom tools, events and page actions come with Growth and up

    Connecting your own APIs as tools, sending events to your page, letting the assistant fill forms and press buttons, proactive suggestions and delivering contact requests to your endpoint are now part of the Growth, Pro and Business plans. Voice stays on every plan.

    If you move to a plan without them, nothing is deleted: your tools and events wait, marked «Not on your plan», until you move back.

13. The Kozak, and colours per character

    There is a fifth character for the widget: the Kozak, whose moustache moves as he talks.

    Each character has its own colourable parts — the Kozak’s visor, eyes, forelock, moustache and earring, the robot’s visor, eyes and mouth — and each keeps its own colours, so switching characters leaves the other’s as you set them. Pick them on the widget’s Appearance tab.

14. The product is called Shukai — and so is its JavaScript API

    The product has its name: Shukai — in the panel, the widget and the emails.

    For developers: the widget’s JavaScript API carries the name too. Use window.Shukai (open, close, sendMessage, setUser and the rest), window.ShukaiConfig for configuration before the script loads, and listen for shukai:* events, for example shukai:action:navigate.

15. Choose how fast the assistant speaks

    Each widget has a speaking pace on its Voice tab: slower, normal, faster or fastest. It applies to every voice and language the widget speaks.

    The Azure voices most languages use also pause less between sentences, so a spoken answer moves along.

16. The plans, and what the voice costs

    The plans: Starter at $15 a month — 3,000 credits, 1 site and up to 500 pages (your first month is $1); Growth at $29 — 7,000 credits, 3 sites and up to 2,000 pages; Pro at $69 — 18,000 credits, 10 sites and up to 5,000 pages; Business at $199 — 52,000 credits, 25 sites and up to 10,000 pages. Pages are counted across all your sites together.

    A spoken answer adds 1 credit for the voice, or 3 for an ElevenLabs voice. New assistants start on Gemini 3 Flash and can hand a visitor to a person from day one.

17. Natural voices for most languages

    Microsoft Azure voices now speak most languages by default, each in the language’s own accent — Dutch from the Netherlands rather than Belgium, Mandarin rather than Cantonese. The assistant speaks 49 languages, and a language you never set up still gets a fitting voice. You can change any language’s voice on the widget’s Voice tab.

18. The panel in 17 languages, and right-to-left in the widget

    The panel now speaks 17 languages; it starts in your browser’s language and remembers the one you pick. Arabic and Hebrew read right to left.

    The widget does too: in an Arabic or Hebrew interface its text runs right to left, while each answer follows the direction of its own words and code in an answer stays left to right.

19. An answer is priced by the model that writes it

    A text answer costs 1, 2 or 4 credits depending on the model you pick for the assistant — GPT-5 mini, Gemini 3 Flash or Claude Haiku 4.5. A spoken answer costs the same plus a fixed amount for the voice, whichever model wrote it.
